« Les perséides » : pourquoi des étoiles pour le Doodle Google ?
Et plus précisément les Perséides ou « Larmes de saint Laurent »: un essaim de météores constitué de débris de la comète Swift-Tuttle.
Cette dernière laisse en effet une traînée de poussière cométaire sur son orbite, formant alors une pluie d’étoiles filantes qui se consument en pénétrant dans l’atmosphère. Ce phénomène est visible depuis la Terre chaque année à la même période: de juillet à août, en sachant que du 11 au 13 août, le spectacle est à son apogée avec jusqu’à 150 étoiles filantes par heure.
Aujourd’hui 11 août était donc le moment tout indiqué pour mettre les « Larmes de saint Laurent » à l’honneur sur Google. Le logo transformé s’accompagne cette fois d’une vidéo, qui fait défiler plusieurs séquences où l’on peut admirer le ciel traversé d’étoiles filantes.
